ABOUT

Artisan Contracting is a General Contractor in the Metro Detroit area. Focusing primarily on multifamily and commercial construction including new construction, rehabilitation, tenant space build outs, core shell improvement, and remodels.

 

Shane started his building career in Northwest Montana 22 years ago as Artisan Construction after graduating from the University of Montana. His business primarily focused on high end, custom residential homes. Shane enjoyed the challenging projects requiring ultra-custom work and specific attention to detail. In 2013 Shane moved Artisan to Detroit to diversify his building portfolio and has since redirected his focus to include multi-family and commercial construction projects. Shane brings effective planning, coordination, and control skills to every job from inception to completion.

IAN WERICK

PROJECT MANAGER

Ian earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in Construction Science and Management. During that time, he had multiple opportunities with internships to work on large high-profile projects across the country, including the Denver Airport and a federal dam project in Kansas. His family is from the Detroit area and he came back to Michigan to be a part of rebuilding Detroit with Artisan Contracting.

BEN SHAW

DIRECTOR OF FIELD OPERATIONS

Ben brings over 28 years of construction experience to the table and he has been with Artisan Contracting for 10 years. Prior to joining Artisan, Ben worked primarily in masonry. He spent 18 years with several of the large masonry firms starting out as being hands on and eventually moving his way up the management ranks. His career in masonry also involved travelling around the United States to run projects in various states. Some of his larger projects involved rebuilding nuclear cooling towers in Florida, which also required his crews to enter radioactive areas to perform work.

ORLANDO ARMADA

SUPERINTENDENT

Orlando is a construction professional with 10 years of experience, specializing in Commercial Renovations, Capital Expenditure Projects, Insurance Restorations, and Residential Rehabs. Before his construction career, Orlando served for a decade in the United States Air Force, where he developed strong leadership and discipline. He is a devoted father to three children and shares a strong partnership with his wife, Victoria, a six-year Air Force veteran. Orlando is currently utilizing his experience as a Superintendent for well-known clients in SE Michigan for Artisan Contracting.

Examples of his diverse experience include:

  • Has completed over 1K unit renovations totaling over $20M across 15 commercial properties and 30 Residential Rehabs totaling $10M.

  • Completion of 10 Qahwah House shops totaling over $10M. 

  • Completed over $30M in Insurance Restoration, Capital Expenditures and Property Systems Upgrades.

DON YUHN

SITE WORK

Don is on site typically. He handles any loose ends that need to be taken care of. Some days Don is installing handrails, doors, or appliances.  Other days, he might be working in an occupied kitchen at a restaurant that Artisan recently finished helping them tweak their new space so that it is more efficient for them to use. Don has been working with Artisan for 3 years.
