Located in the heart of Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood, 2150 Bagley Street is a completed historic rehabilitation and adaptive reuse project that preserves the building’s industrial character while giving the property a new purpose. Situated just blocks from the landmark Michigan Central Station, the project contributes to the continued revitalization of one of Detroit’s oldest and most rapidly evolving neighborhoods.
Originally constructed as a warehouse serving Corktown’s thriving industrial and commercial activity, the building reflects the durable masonry construction and architectural character that define many of the neighborhood’s historic structures. Rather than replacing this piece of Detroit’s history, Artisan Contracting thoughtfully rehabilitated the existing building, preserving its defining features while adapting the property for modern residential and commercial use.
The completed development includes 14 loft-style residential units above approximately 12,000 square feet of commercial space, creating a dynamic mixed-use destination within the neighborhood. The residential spaces embrace the building’s industrial heritage through open layouts, natural light, and preserved architectural elements, while the commercial space provides opportunities for neighborhood-serving businesses and services.
Artisan Contracting provided comprehensive construction services throughout the rehabilitation, incorporating updated building systems, infrastructure, and modern improvements while maintaining the character and integrity of the original structure. The project required a careful balance between historic preservation and contemporary functionality, allowing the building to retain its authentic Corktown identity while meeting the needs of its new occupants.
As investment and development continue to reshape Corktown following the restoration of Michigan Central Station and surrounding projects, 2150 Bagley represents a meaningful contribution to the neighborhood’s ongoing renewal. By transforming an existing historic warehouse into a vibrant mixed-use property, the project preserves a piece of Detroit’s architectural legacy while creating new residential and commercial opportunities for the community.
Artisan Contracting is proud to have played a role in bringing new life to 2150 Bagley Street and contributing to the continued revitalization of Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood.
