2150 Bagely

2150 Bagley Street, Detroit, MI 48216

Located in the heart of Detroit's historic Corktown neighborhood, 2150 Bagley Street is being transformed through a thoughtful rehabilitation and adaptive reuse that celebrates the building's industrial heritage while preparing it for a new chapter. Situated just blocks from the landmark Michigan Central Station, the project reflects the ongoing revitalization of one of Detroit's most iconic neighborhoods, where historic architecture and new investment continue to shape a vibrant urban community.

Originally constructed as a warehouse to serve the area's thriving industrial and commercial activity, the building stands as a reminder of Corktown's evolution as one of Detroit's oldest neighborhoods. Like many of the district's historic masonry structures, it features durable construction and architectural character that have endured for generations. Rather than replacing this piece of Detroit's history, the redevelopment preserves its defining features while thoughtfully adapting the space to meet the needs of today's residents and businesses.

Artisan Contracting is leading the comprehensive rehabilitation of the property, converting the existing warehouse into a dynamic mixed-use destination. The completed development will feature 14 loft-style residential units positioned above approximately 12,000 square feet of commercial space, creating opportunities for neighborhood-serving retail, office, restaurant, or service-oriented businesses. The loft residences are designed to embrace the building's industrial character through open floor plans, generous natural light, and carefully preserved architectural elements that honor the structure's original design.

Throughout construction, the project emphasizes the careful restoration of historic features while incorporating modern building systems, updated infrastructure, and energy-efficient improvements that will ensure the building serves the community for decades to come. Every phase of the rehabilitation is guided by a commitment to balancing historic preservation with contemporary functionality, allowing the building to retain its authentic character without compromising performance or comfort.

As Corktown continues to experience significant investment spurred by the nearby restoration of Michigan Central Station and surrounding development, 2150 Bagley represents another meaningful step in the neighborhood's ongoing renewal. By preserving an important historic structure and introducing new residential and commercial opportunities, the project contributes to a more walkable, connected, and economically vibrant community. The redevelopment exemplifies Artisan Contracting's commitment to preserving Detroit's architectural legacy while delivering high-quality construction that supports the city's continued growth and revitalization.
