Artisan Contracting served as the general contractor for the build-out of Café Sous Terre, a basement-level café and cocktail bar in Detroit. This hospitality project transformed an underground commercial space into a distinctive destination that serves specialty coffee by day and craft cocktails by night.

The project included a complete interior tenant build-out featuring custom café and bar counters, commercial kitchen and prep areas, millwork, tile, flooring, architectural lighting, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) coordination. Because of the below-grade location, construction required careful planning for ventilation, moisture control, lighting, and efficient space utilization to create a comfortable and inviting environment.

Working closely with the ownership team, designers, and specialty trades, Artisan Contracting delivered a flexible space that transitions seamlessly from daytime café service to evening cocktail operations. Every detail was carefully coordinated to maximize functionality while creating a warm, sophisticated atmosphere.

Today, Café Sous Terre is recognized as one of Detroit's unique hospitality destinations, known for its intimate ambiance, thoughtfully crafted interiors, and dual-concept experience.
