The David Whitney Building

Within the Grand Circus Park Historic District, the David Whitney Building was constructed beginning in 1914 and one of only three surviving buildings in Detroit by the famous Daniel H. Burnham & Co. Burnam architectural firm. The four-story atrium lobby is filled with decorative terra cotta and marble. During the mid-1950s, many other historic Detroit buildings were demolished, but the David Whitney Building stands today as a testament to the classical architectural styles.
