Artisan Contracting proudly served as the general contractor for The Grand Porter, an all-day café and bakery in Southwest Detroit near Mexicantown. Housed within a restored 19th-century building that once operated as a neighborhood candy store, the project transformed a historic property into a welcoming destination known for its house-made pastries, craft coffee, and elevated breakfast and lunch offerings.
The tenant build-out included the renovation and integration of two existing structures, creating a modern food service operation while preserving the building's historic character. The Grand Porter is also the sister concept to Café Sous Terre, reflecting the owners' shared vision for thoughtfully designed hospitality spaces. The completed project showcases Artisan Contracting's expertise in adaptive reuse, restaurant construction, tenant improvements, and hospitality build-outs throughout Metro Detroit.
